GE has collaborated with Pivotal to develop an industrial data lake approach in an effort to help customers analyze large volumes of data.
Bill Ruh, vice president of GE Software, said Monday that the company and Pivotal designed the industrial data approach to combine information technology with operational technology so that customers will be able to meet their information requirements.
GE will work to integrate the industrial data lake into its Predix software platform for industrial Internet.
The company also tested its Predictivity software on various industrial settings such as aviation.
GE says it expects to gather data from 10 million flights and 1,500 terabytes of full flight information by 2015.
