A commercial launch services team of Ball Aerospace & Technologies, DigitalGlobe, Exelis and Lockheed Martin has completed payload fairing assembly work on the WorldView-3 remote sensing satellite ahead of its scheduled launch next week.
Ball said Tuesday the DigitalGlobe Earth observation satellite will launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base via the Atlas V launch vehicle to provide high-resolution satellite imagery and geospatial data for both commercial and noncommercial applications.
WorldView-3 is equipped with a primary visible/SWIR sensor and 1.1-meter aperture telescope built by Exelis and the CAVIS instrument developed by Ball for monitoring atmospheric conditions.
Ball Aerospace also managed WorldView-3’s overall development, testing and integration work.
