United Technologies Corp. has won a contract to modernize the airborne imaging sensors of the U.S. Air Force, C4ISR & Networks reported Thursday.
Michael Peck writes United Technologies’ UTC aerospace systems unit will work to upgrade the SYERS-2 sensor systems to the SYERS-2C version featuring multispectral technology.
Kevin Raftery, UTC vice president, said the company worked with both the Air Force and the U.S. Navy to reconfigure its operational system in order for the military services to meet requirements, the report says.
“This SYERS variant brings unique capabilities particularly advantageous to joint operations in the air/sea battle domain,” added Raftery.
