AirplaneRockwell Collins is helping Brazil-based Sao Paulo International Airport put the company’s ARINC VeriPax passenger reconciliation system into action and the system went live prior to the start of the 2014 World Cup on June 12.

The system is built to improve passenger flow by at least 15 percent by using two-dimensional scanners and automated passenger screening technologies, the company said Monday.

“Hosting the 2014 World Cup has brought soccer fans from around the world to Brazil so we needed a solution that would provide our passengers with a better, faster check-in experience,” said Luiz Eduardo Ritzmann, chief information officer for GRU.

“By automating the screening process, we believe that VeriPax has enabled us to improve GRU’s passenger flow.”

ARINC Veripax has been deployed to other airports in Singapore, Hong Kong, London and Brazil.

Rockwell Collins aims to help airport customers with automating the check-in process, as well as helping passengers analyze passengers at security check points.

“We’re proud to be playing a critical role in making GRU one of the most modern airports in the world in terms of passenger processing capabilities,” said Michael Picco, staff vice president for airport systems at Rockwell Collins.

“This program marks yet another key milestone in our commitment to invest and grow in Brazil. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with GRU and other airports throughout the country.”
