The government of the Philippines has requested to buy $61 million in C-130T transport planes and related equipment through a U.S. Defense Department-run foreign military sale program.
The Philippines’ air force is interested in acquiring two Lockheed Martin-made C-130s from DoD’s existing stock, The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.
According to DSCA, the Philippine military intends to use the aircraft to support the nation’s disaster relief and humanitarian assistance operations.
The transaction would also include 10Â T56-16 aircraft engines, logistics support, technical manuals, crew training and sustainment services.
DSCA notified Congress of the potential FMS deal with the Philippine government last week.
