A Hewlett Packard business unit has received a $55.8 million contract to extend its information technology support work for the city of Anaheim, California for another five years.
HP Enterprise Services will provide the Anaheim government with new disaster recovery and videoconferencing platforms as well as help officials manage public web sites and digital communications with local residents, HP said Monday.
“Anaheim is embracing and expanding its use of IT to better manage a vibrant, growing city and world-class tourist destination,” said Mike Poth, HP Enterprise Services vice president for state and local government.
Poth added the business has supported city’s technology infrastructure for more than a decade.
The agreement also calls for the HP unit to continue managing city-owned data center facilities and workplace computing environment for 2,300 government employees.
“HP serves as our IT department, combining its deep knowledge of technology and city operations to boost our productivity, security and ability to avoid and respond to incidents while enabling us to redirect resources to innovation and strategic planning,” said Debbie Moreno, Anaheim city finance director.
The company has developed an enterprise virtual operations center technology intended to help local police and first responders access real-time information during emergencies.
