FireEye has moved to expand its threat detection capabilities by incorporating traditional email security features into the company’s offering.
The FireEye Email Threat Prevention Cloud tool has been updated with anti-spam and anti-virus protection systems, FireEye said Tuesday.
“By unifying our advanced threat detection capabilities with the traditional email security tools enterprises have relied on, organizations can now have email security that efficiently protects them from the wide variety of attacks seen today,†said Manish Gupta, senior vice president of products at FireEye.
The updated offering is meant to develop an email gateway service that uses the multi-vector virtual execution engine and dynamic threat intelligence cloud.
Users will be able to counter spear-phishing email attacks and traditional threats through the email security features such as an active protection-mode and a monitor-only mode, the company says.
The anti-spam and anti-virus protection tools are built to work with the on-premise FireEye Email Threat Prevention platform.
