Lockheed Martin Opens Tech Office in England; Rick Ambrose Comments

Lockheed Martin’s space systems company has moved to help the United Kingdom grow its space capabilities by opening a technology office in the region, the Denver Business Journal reported Wednesday.

Greg Avery writes the new office located at UK Space Gateway in Harwell Oxford is a spinoff of Lockheed Martin’s UK division.

Rick Ambrose, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Space Systems, told the Journal the company aims to work with UK partners to develop systems in “climate monitoring, space weather and secure communications.”

“We’re supportive of the UK government’s vision of cultivating an even stronger space industry to address pressing challenges and opportunities, from global security to environmental monitoring,” Ambrose told the publication.

Lockheed Martin Space Systems recently consulted more than 30 UK companies, universities and government organizations for British space opportunities, Avery reports.
