CH2M HILL has secured a rail modernization contract to help redesign a railway line that stretches between Wegliniec to Gorlitz in Poland, the construction and engineering firm said Wednesday.
Polish rail infrastructure company PKP PLK awarded the estimated $538,000 contract to CH2M HILL for modernization work on the track, which runs from the edge of Poland to the German border.
“With transportation projects being a huge driver for expansion and employing over 300 people in the country, Poland has become one of the company’s most significant growth areas,” said James Rowntree, CH2M HILL’s managing director for transportation in Europe.
“It is through projects like this that we are developing our portfolio and showing our strength in this sector.”
CH2M HILL will provide analytics of socio-economic factors at play such as traffic, railway infrastructure, rolling stock, network power systems and potential impacts on the environment.
“We’ll be adding real value to the development of Poland’s national infrastructure; we have extensive experience carrying out transport planning, electricity design and environmental impact assessments,” said Panczyk.
“We look forward to working with PKP PLP to help deliver this strategic upgrade program.”
The contract is scheduled to be completed by the end of fall 2015.
