Inmarsat has signed an agreement with ORBIT Communication Systems to help manufacture Global Xpress aviation terminals and identify other opportunities to leverage the technology to drive adoption of the GX satellite broadband service.
The companies said Wednesday ORBIT will provide its airborne tracking and communication antenna terminals for GX as they serve the government market.
Andy Start, president of Inmarsat’s global government business, noted that GX works to support the needs of the government aviation market, particularly for applications that require high bandwidth.
GX will function as a mobile broadband service in the Ka-band as Inmarsat aims to grow its position in the global mobile satellite communications sector.
