Hewlett-Packard Co. has unveiled a new cloud encryption tool for customers to protect sensitive data, Infotech Lead reported Thursday.
HP designed the Atalla cloud encryption system to secure data residing in the cloud and on enterprise premises such as emails, payment data and electronic health records, according to the report.
Financial institutions, retailers, energy firms, healthcare providers and government clients will have access to a centralized encryption control system for their data through HP’s Enterprise Secure Key Manager 4.0, the report says.
Infotech Lead reports IBM developed ESKM 4.0 for users to manage encryption keys across public, private and hybrid cloud environments.
The key manager is meant to work with HP’s ProLiant Gen 8 servers and comply with the OASIS key management interoperability protocol, according to Infotech Lead.
