General Dynamics’ C4 Systems division has updated the soldier network extension of the company’s tactical network backbone for the U.S. military by considering feedback from soldiers.
The 101st Airborne Division troops connected their laptop computers and radios to the Warfighter Information Network – Tactical Increment 2 Soldier Network Extension during Afghanistan’s elections in April, General Dynamics said Wednesday.
The soldiers used the network as a hotspot to perform voice, chat and email communications.
General Dynamics’ Human-Systems Integration and Design Center of Excellence recently gathered feedback from soldiers and incorporated their demands into the SNE update.
The HSID team worked with engineers and other professionals to adapt the SNE system based on the requirements of soldiers in the field.
