General Dynamics‘ information technology business has provided Ohio’s Morgan County with an IP-based NextGen-911 emergency system to boost communications and information dissemination among first responders.
The company said Tuesday NextGen-911, as a replacement to the legacy Enhanced 911 system, uses a geographic information system to locate emergency services callers and can route calls to the corresponding response units.
According to Charlie Plummer, vice president and general manager of General Dynamics Information Technology’s IT solutions segment, NextGen-911 also leverages IP-based communications, text messaging and photo and video capabilities to deliver emergency information.
The new system is also built on cloud architecture and meets the i3 architecture standards of the National Emergency Number Association, General Dynamics said.
