ATK and the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau have partnered for base configurations of the medium AC-295 gunships for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Two lightweight gunships were recently delivered based on the Airbus CN-235 transport aircraft model to Jordan, said ATK.
“We are extending the Kingdom’s investment in the AC-235 through the addition of new weapons and mission systems onto the larger C-295 platform to provide additional capabilities, more firepower and flexibility for the defense of the Kingdom,” said MG (Ret) Atef Tell, Chairman of KADDB.
With efforts from KADDB ATK developed and delivered the system integration and aircraft modifications to turn Airbus CN-235 cargo planes into multi-purpose gunships.
“The successful development, testing and delivery of the AC-235 gunships by the KADDB/ATK team led directly to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan announcing their intent to expand the gunship capability onto a larger aircraft platform,” said Bill Kasting, vice president and general manager of ATK’s Defense Electronic Systems division.
ATK has a history of outfitting a multifarity of aircraft–the Alenia C-27J, CASA CN-235/295, Lockheed C-130, Hawker Beechcraft King Air and others–with the capability for integrated intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and weapons systems.
The partnership between KADDB and ATK will continue on into the larger C-295 platform.
