Airbus and Inmarsat have partnered to develop broadband airborne terminals for aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicle customers.
Military and government clients are meant to gain access to Inmarsat’s Global Xpress Ka-band satellite service through Airbus’ airborne portfolio, Airbus said Tuesday.
“Combining the unique Global Xpress service with Airbus Defence and Space’s proven heritage in airborne satcom heralds a new era of operational flexibility,†said Andy Start, president of Inmarsat Global Government.
The combined offering is intended to deliver high-speed satellite communications options for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations of aircraft.
The agreement follows Airbus and Inmarsat’s GX distribution partnership, which concluded in December.
