Teresa Carlson, global public sector vice president at Amazon Web Services, has said the company is working to better communicate the value of cloud services to non-commercial organizations, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.
Mohana Ravindranath writes that Carlson spoke Wednesday at the annual AWS conference that drew executives from the government and nonprofit sectors to Washington.
Carlson observed that organizations use cloud technology not only to store big data, but to create their own applications as well.
“In the early days of talking with a customer, they weren’t sure where to begin,” she told event attendees.
“Now they have a vision, they have a plan,†she added, according to The Post.
Ravindranath writes that AWS representatives go to Capitol Hill to explain to lawmakers how federal agencies could save money and connect with the public through cloud technology.
“We also spend time on compliance and the security regime with compliance officers within those agencies,” Carlson said, according to Ravindranath’s article.
“I think people are beginning to realize that on AWS you can try and fail fast without it affecting your system in a big way.”
