Royal Philips and salesforce.com have formed a partnership to combine their respective medical technology, clinical informatics, cloud computing and customer engagement offerings to develop an open source, cloud-based healthcare IT platform.
The parties said Thursday the platform will be designed to enable personal health management and remote health monitoring and support the Philips Hospital to Home programs.
“We have entered a new transformative era for healthcare, and technology is enabling the industry to connect to, care for and engage with patients and each other in a profound new way,” said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of salesforce.com.
The platform, which will initially offer the Philips eCareCoordinator and Philips eCareCompanion applications this summer, will be built for for medical device and data interoperability, care team and patient collaboration, data integration, data privacy, security application development.
Both companies also intend to help foster patient relationship management from care and prevention to recovery and wellness.
