Parsons Transportation Group has been awarded a $7 million contract to provide management services for a streetcar program in Northern Virginia, RailwayAge reported Monday.
Douglas John Bowen writes the Columbia Pike streetcar program is intended to connect two separate lines from Fairfax County to Arlington.
“This high-capacity modern streetcar program for the Columbia Pike and Crystal City corridors, is critical for sustaining growth and building communities in both Arlington and Fairfax Counties,” said Todd Wager, Parsons’ transportation group president.
Arlington plans to extend the contract with Parsons annually, according to the report.
Bowen writes the county has issued a separate contract for the project’s design and engineering works.
