NetApp Inc. has been awarded a $28 million contract to provide computer equipment for the Australian Defense Department under a Thales-led project, CRN reported Thursday.
Steven Kiernan writes defense personnel will gain access to classified domains using a single device through the government’s Next Generation Desktop program.
NetApp will supply computer, networking and storage equipment for that project, which went live in 2011, according to the report.
A defense spokesperson told CRN that Thales has been working to integrate the NetApp technology into the Next Generation Desktop project.
Kiernan writes Australian Defense also plans to modernize its thin client infrastructure.
