A test site for unmanned aircraft systems using a safety management system developed by Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. is one of six partners chosen by the Federal Aviation Administration to support UAS integration research.
MTSI said Friday the Lone Star UAS Center of Excellence & Innovation, operated by Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, will help FAA study the safe integration of UAS into the U.S. airspace.
“MTSI is proud to have the opportunity to partner with this effort, and affect the UAS safety baseline at a fundamental level,” said Heather Harris, a senior safety consultant at MTSI.
The company will also continue its support for the Texas test site as an independent safety manager.
Russ Wolfe, MTSI chief engineer, said the company has a variety of services covering related UAS policy, regulation and operations.
