DataDirect Networks is providing storage services to the Environmental Molecular Science Laboratory for energy research projects that are intended to help the Energy Department minimize the country’s foreign oil dependence.
Atipa Technologies led the technology upgrade at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and modernized to DDNTM SFA 12K block storage platform and EXAScaler file storage appliance, DataDirect said Tuesday.
“With the performance, scale and massive capacity of DDN storage, researchers at these organizations are able to achieve new levels of discovery at lower TCO by scaling their data to include bigger models and larger computation sets,†said Molly Rector, chief marketing officer at DDN.
DOE’s office of biological and environmental research is funding the research and the EMSL provides a high performance computing system for molecular-level modeling and simulation.
Scientists are able to process and access simulations and structural genomics through the Cascade supercomputer.
