Lockheed Martin has destroyed targets with missiles launched from its turreted weapon system for two ground demonstrations at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
The HELLFIRE and DAGR missiles were fired from the long-range surveillance and attack vehicle weapon system, Lockheed said Tuesday.
The LRSAV system fired the HELLFIRE II missile from a distance of 6.4 kilometers and the DAGR missile from 3.5 km during the tests.
Lockheed’s electro-optical/infrared sensor aboard the AH-64D Apache helicopter worked to detect the target objects.
The developed the LRSAV system at the company’s facilities in Texas, Florida and England.
