IT contracting company Intelligent Decisions has bought intellectual property rights and assets to a Quantam 3D virtual training software, the Washington Post reported Thursday.
Mohana Ravindranath writes that San Jose-based software company, Quantam 3D sold rights to its Expedition DI software line to Intelligent Decisions for an undisclosed amount.
The product line includes technologies like helmets and weapons with screen displays and wearable computers and sensors, all intended to place the wearer in a virtual simulation of real-life situations, which could be ideal for training soldiers for future missions among other things.
Clarence Pape, Intelligent Decisions’ vice president of simulation and training said, “we have already begun to enhance the fidelity [to reality], look, feel and functionality of the weapons and are underway to redesign the backpack to meet customer needs for wider, more flexible, or more compact and more powerful capabilities.â€
The system was originally used by ID for infantry training, but the company hopes that acquiring all rights to the Expedition DI product line will allow them to use the existing software to build new training systems, the Post said.
