DataDirect Networks has built on its offerings in managing parallel file system data by making its WOS-Bridge platform available for DDN Lustre and GPFS domains.
DDN said that the introduction of the WOS-Bridge integration with DDN’s parallel file systems aims to help users manage, distribute and retain their data from the cloud to various data centers within a single namespace–the first time delivering such benefits.
Molly Rector, Chief Marketing Officer at DDN, said organizations want to achieve the benefits of high performance through content collaboration and cloud storage.
“Providing quick access to data for business analysts, researchers and scientists around the globe is critical to a competitive business or research organization,” Rector said.
As data growth continues to explode in IT infrastructures and budgets, HPC organizations are reaching for higher levels of performance, striving to ensure that data is readily available as needed, DDN said.
Erik Deumens, Director of Research Computing at the University of Florida, said DDN’s WOS-Bridge provides a solution that addresses the school’s concerns of managing multiple infrastructures across multiple remote sites.
WOS access works to facilitate that collaboration, data protection, disaster recovery and access by applications around the world to support global workflows.
“DDN’s WOS-Bridge solution will provide that essential last mile as we expand WOS into our high performance storage environment by federating our computational data sets from across our research community in order to achieve success in collaboration, retention and data protection requirements,” said Deumens.
