DARPADan Kaufman, DARPA‘s Information Innovation Office director, has revealed that the agency is looking into technology that will help secure the emerging Internet of Things, Gigaom reported Thursday.

David Meyer writes Kaufman discussed such potential developments at the recent Gigaom Structure event in San Francisco attended by several technology industry leaders.

Kaufman said DARPA is working on developing “unhackable” operating systems and homomorphic encryption solutions to protect data from intrusion.

However, he also notes that said technology still are being improved, particularly in homomorphic encryption where computing is slower compared to when data is unencrypted.
