CenturyLink has built a new multi-megawatt data center in Arizona and plans to establish more storage locations this summer, the Arizona Republic reported Monday.
In the early stages of 2014, the company partnered with Phoenix-based software data company IO on the construction of a new data center, one of 56 worldwide, aiming to meet the growing demand for secure cloud services, the Republic reports.
David Meredith, CenturyLink’s senior vice president and global general manager, said that companies are looking for new ways to store data so they can focus on their business.
The company plans to open data centers across eight markets, he said.
“It’s a multibillion-dolar market that is growing every year,” said Meredith.
