Boeing has opened a research and technology center in Brazil to facilitate aerospace technology development in areas such as sustainable aviation biofuel, air traffic management, remote sensing, metals and bio-materials.
The company said Wednesday the Boeing Research & Technology-Brazil facility in the São José dos Campos Technology Park is its sixth international research center.
“Recognizing the talented and growing base of technology expertise and research capability in Brazil, we are excited to open the BR&T-Brazil research center,” said Al Bryant, BR&T-Brazil vice president.
“The center will strengthen our relationship with Brazil’s R&D community in ways that grow Brazil’s capabilities and meet the country’s goals for economic and technology development,” he added.
Donna Hrinak, president of Boeing Brazil, also highlighted the center’s focus on collaborative R&D that is expected to also deliver on the company’s technology development goals.
BR&T-Brazil will also work with academic, industry and government institutions such as the Federal University of Minas Gerais, University of Sao Paulo, Embraer and Brazil’s Department of Aerospace Science and Technology and National Institute for Space Research.
Boeing’s other international research centers are located in Australia, China, Europe, India and Russia.
