Red Hat Inc. has opened a new office in Jakarta, Indonesia, in a move to provide open source services to existing and new customers in the country.
Red Hat seeks to train local talent and engage local OpenStack and open source developer communities as part of its expansion in Indonesia, Red Hat said May 12.
IDC reported that CEOs in Indonesia consider information technology to be a critical part for business amid growing competition and increasing costs.
“Customers in Indonesia have always been very supportive of open source solutions and we have seen increased interest from local customers,†said Damien Wong, senior director and general manager for ASEAN at Red Hat.
Indonesia’s ministry of policy on open source adoption is pushing for open source technology across several industries, Red Hat says.
The company also selected PT. Avnet Datamation Solutions as a second distributor in Indonesia.
