Lockheed Martin will work with government, academic and business organizations in Canada’s province of Alberta to develop technologies in areas such as computing, water management and consumer electronics under an agreement between the company and the provincial government.
The goal of the collaboration is to connect the expertise of Lockheed and Alberta’s technology workers to introduce new tools into the marketplace, Alberta’s government said Thursday.
“While innovation cannot be managed, it can be supported. This agreement brings together the diverse resources, talent, and ideas of academia, industry, and government to support innovative solutions that could become the next generation of technological advancement,” said Ray Johnson, Lockheed senior vice president and chief technology officer.
Lockheed will collaborate with Campus Alberta and local firms to build storage platforms, filtration membranes and batteries.
Alberta’s government aims to expand services for communities and families through its Building Alberta Plan initiative.
