NetApp and Red Hat have partnered to design a reference architecture for organizations to build a private cloud based on open-source software OpenStack IceHouse.
The companies also seek to combine Red Hat’s Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform with a NetApp technology that is built to store and manage enterprise data, Red Hat said Monday.
Radhesh Balakrishnan, Red Hat general manager for virtualization and OpenStack, said the alliance’s goal is to help customers implement interoperable hybrid cloud infrastructures.
The OpenStack template will be designed to also address cloud security and performance issues at the enterprise level, according to Red Hat.
NetApp and Red Hat has formed a support team to help customers adopt best practices and solve technical problems.
The companies also signed up for the Manila project with the aim of accelerating the adoption of OpenStack and integrating the platform with file-based storage products.
