Lockheed Martin has received a five-year, $14 million contract to continue its operation and sustainment support for cyber operation simulations at the National Cyber Range, Nextgov reported Friday.
Aliya Sternstein writes Lockheed first joined the program in 2009 and signed an $80 million contract in 2012 to operate the range.
The U.S. Army is allocating $5.6 million in fiscal year 2014 research, development, test and evaluation funds initially, Sternstein reports.
The range works to simulate networks to model cyberattacks and assess the impact of these intrusions on said networks.
Contract documents from 2012 obtained by Nextgog said the range utilizes Lockheed technology and customized government equipment.
“The techniques and procedures to execute [range] testing are specific to [the current] hardware/software mix, and must be continued,” the documents said.
