General Dynamics C4 Systems‘s Sectera vIPer Universal Secure Phone has been chosen by the FBI as a replacement for the old Secure Terminal Equipment phones used by federal law enforcement and national security personnel.
The vIPer Voice over Internet Protocol phones are designed to secure voice and data communications and can interoperate with all government secure phones, Defense Department networks and commercial VoIP phones, General Dynamics said Thursday.
“Operating cost reductions and improved productivity are two benefits driving the transition from legacy telecom equipment and networks to one IP-based communications capability for government agencies,” said Chris Marzilli, president of General Dynamics C4 Systems.
The company plans to deliver the vIPer phones to the FBI beginning in the second quarter of this year.
