United-health-groupThe UnitedHealth Group has created an external nurse advisory board intended to use best practices to build strong partnerships in the nursing, education and healthcare industries.

The UnitedHealth Group Center for Nursing Advancement’s ENAB also aims to influence nursing policies and further the nursing profession in the U.S., UnitedHealth Group announced Friday.

In conjunction, UnitedHealth Group appointed 12 new members to the ENAB. Dawn Bazarko, CFNA senior vice president, and Sue Hassmiller, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation senior advisory for nursing and director, will serve as co-chairs of the board.

“The Center for Nursing Advancement (CFNA) was founded in 2008 to prepare nurses for expanding roles and solving the most pressing health care problems of today and tomorrow, tackling the challenges of a health care system in transition and shaping the future of the health care industry,” said Jeannine Rivet, UnitedHealth Group executive vice president and CFNA executive sponsor.

“The ENAB was created to further this mission, not only for the more than 24,000 UnitedHealth Group nurse employees in the United States and seven other countries, but for nurses everywhere,” Rivet added.
