Turner Construction Company and the Pratt Institute are partnering to help increase students’ interest in the construction industry through scholarships and other programs.
So far, the Pratt/Turner partnership has sponsored about 50% of a year’s tuition of six New York City high school students from Brooklyn Tech and Urban Assembly School of Construction and Design, Turner Construction announced Tuesday.
The students in the program will also receive paid summer internships and an opportunity for full-time employment after graduation.
“Turner has a vested interest in the education and development of construction managers,” said Peter Davoren, Turner Construction president and CEO.
“They are the future of our business. Given the tools of an advanced education in construction management offered by Pratt Institute, graduates of the program will carry the industry forward, driving innovation and offering answers to significant issues facing the industry and the world,” Davoren added.
