Anaren will provide its beamformer technology to Raytheon under an $8.5 million subcontract for the engineering and manufacturing development stage of Raytheon’s contract to build the U.S. Navy‘s Air and Missile Defense Radar.
The one-year subcontract covers work to design and assemble the beamformer and is part of the AMDR program’s potential 10-year, $110 million low-rate initial production phase, Anaren said Monday.
Raytheon and Anaren expect to carry out full-scale production for 20 years after the LRIP phase completes.
Anaren will perform work at its facilities in Syracuse, N.Y.; Salem, N.H.; and Littleton, Colo.
Raytheon is the prime contractor for the AMDR radar system, which the Navy intends to have installed on Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyers by 2016.
