Oracle has introduced two cloud service offerings intended to help enterprise clients store, back up and secure database systems.
The Database Backup Service and Storage Cloud Service platforms are designed to move business information or applications between on-premise and cloud environments, Oracle said Monday.
Chris Pinkham, Oracle senior vice president for product development, said the cloud services are based on open architectures and part of the firm’s enterprise-grade infrastructure services portfolio.
The backup platform works to integrate with Oracle’s recovery manager software and is hosted through a platform-as-a-service infrastructure.
Oracle designed the storage cloud technology to be compatible with object storage system OpenStack Swift and manage data by using Java and REST application programming interfaces.
