Lockheed-Martin-BlueLockheed Martin will sponsor a three-day service project with nonprofit Give an Hour aimed to raise awareness about the challenges veterans face when returning from war.

The A Celebration of Service event at the Studio Theater in Washington D.C. from April 6-8 will commence with Lockheed Martin’s project, the company announced Thursday.

More than 30 Lockheed Martin employees, together with Give an Hour volunteers and other sponsors and partners, will go to a transitional housing facility operated by Veterans on the Rise.

The volunteers will landscape and paint the facility.

“We are proud to partner with Give an Hour and honored to be part of ‘A Celebration of Service. We have a shared duty to ensure our transitioning veterans and their families experience successful reintegration into our communities, and Give an Hour is doing tremendous work to address this need,” sad Jim Byrne, Lockheed Martin associate general counsel, chief privacy officer and a board member of Give an Hour.

During the three-day event, Leo S. Mackay Jr., Lockheed Martin vice president of ethics and sustainability will participate in a panel discussion about integrating veterans into the workplace.

Give an Hour provides free mental health services to veterans, service members and military families, the news release noted.
