BAE Systems has helped to launch Transport for London’s new website as part of the agency’s project to offer more public services through digitized systems and platforms, BAE UK Services Managing Director Julian Cracknell says.
Cracknell said Tuesday that the company and TfL aim to help up to millions of people each month plan their journeys through London.
The site took 18 months to design and build and BAE highlighted the project as part of its goal to help government and private sector customers achieve digital transformation.
“It’s incredibly exciting to see that the new website is up and running,†Cracknell said.
The new website uses BAE digital media, big data, systems integration and managed services to deliver real-time statuses and push notifications on information regarding all modes of transport near users, the company says.
BAE built the system to handle sudden surges in user traffic and use design techniques to make the website viewable on any platform or device.
The website has a JavaScript-enabled interactive map of the London Tube that is designed to highlight sections for travel planning and other purposes.
