IBM has patented a cloud-based technology the company designed to secure data notifications across mobile devices and networks, as well to address concerns on privacy and confidentiality among developers, service providers and end users.
The company built the tool to help developers create mobile applications for transmitting assigned message identifiers in the cloud to the user’s device, IBM said Friday.
“Regardless of the nature of data being pushed to or from a mobile device, it should never be exposed to third-parties since they cannot always guarantee the security and confidentiality to customers,” said Benjamin Fletcher, an IBM inventor and software engineering researcher.
IBM wants device users to authorize cloud access to the encrypted message, the company said.
