Battelle will hold its third annual practicum-based camp to tackle cybersecurity issues in automobiles July 13 through July 18 in Detroit.
The CyberAuto Challenge has teams of students and automotive professionals participate in lectures about secure system design, secure programming, embedded systems, information technology laws and ethics, Battelle announced Monday.
“Most kids interested in computers, computer code and ethical hacking don’t think to put the automotive industry at the top of their possible career list,” said Karl Heimer, director of the Battelle Center for Advanced Vehicle Environments.
Participants will carry out practical tests on cars at the end of each day.
Personnel from the departments of Transportation, Homeland Security and Defense will take part in the event.
