SAS is working to help clients combat financial crime and fraud through a new facility in Glasglow that will focus on big data analytics, company executive Mikael Hagstrom said, according to a Tuesday report from CBR.
Hagstrom — Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific executive vice president — was talking about the company’s new global research and development facility that has received an estimated $2.16 million grant from Scottish Development International.
“The UK has the opportunity to take a lead in the global efforts to deliver real financial benefit from big data – considered a 21st century raw material and referred to by analysts as ‘new oil’, Hagstrom added.
The new facility is intended to provide 202 jobs in the region, the report said.
