Lockheed Martin BlueLockheed Martin has been awarded a nearly $9 million foreign military sales contract with the U.S. Air Force to help maintain South Korea’s reconnaissance aircraft system.

Lockheed will sustain the Peace Krypton system’s spare and repair components, supply test tools for South Korea’s aircraft, fixed and mobile ground stations and upgrade system software, the company said Monday.

“Raising the level of sustainment and support continues to be a critical part of our partnership on the Peace Krypton program,” said Robert Smith, vice president of C4ISR for Lockheed’s Information Systems & Global Solutions business.

The Peace Krypton system comprises of business jets and ground stations that are built to process data from the aircraft for tactical intelligence.

Lockheed first began to provide engineering and logistics services for the Republic of Korea’s Krypton program in 1996.
