Lockheed Martin and a Poland-based university have partnered to carry out an applied research project and explore methods for integrating technologies in manned and unmanned aircraft.
Warsaw Polytechnic’s students will study how to build multiple systems used in aerial vehicles and ground stations through the Lockheed-backed initiative, Lockheed said Thursday.
“Our mission is to develop practical solutions that will apply in the management of Polish defense capabilities and significantly affect the development and future of science in Poland,” said Janusz Narkiewicz, a professor and project manager at Warsaw University of Technology.
Lockheed and the university will also work together to design unmanned drone platforms, software and simulation technology.
The project is intended to build on prior work in areas such as flight planning automation and air-based search and monitoring.
