GPS tool maker Location Based Technologies will market and integrate its GPS technology with UT-Battelle‘s VERDE Analytics power restoration forecasting system under an exclusive licensing deal between both parties.
LBT said Tuesday the combination of data related to navigation, the environment and weather situations is intended to help mobile service providers track assets, work crews and power operations statuses.
The integrated technology will be available to commercial customers, public utilities and U.S. agencies by June.
LBT and UT-Battelle plan to complete the integration by the second quarter of calendar year 2014.
UT-Battelle, a partnership between the University of Tennessee and Battelle Memorial Institute, operates the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for the Energy Department.
