satellite airforceGilat Satellite Networks will develop a portfolio of ground-based terminals and related services for enterprise customers of an Inmarsat global mobile satellite communications service.

Inmarsat selected Gilat to build very small aperture terminals and network management services for the Global Xpress satellite value-added reseller program, Gilat said Wednesday.

The partnership aims to drive adoption of the GX satellite network by organizations that want fixed, land-based VSAT broadband data connections, according to Gilat.

Rupert Pearce, CEO of Inmarsat, said Gilat brings to the team previous market experience in providing Ka-band satellite technology to enterprises.

The three-satellite GX constellation is scheduled to be in service worldwide by year’s end.

Gilat builds satellite ground terminals, antennas and solid state amplifiers and is a provider of satellite-based managed rural telephony and Internet services.
