General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems will produce the network communications element for the Air Force‘s GPS III satellites under a $26 million subcontract with Lockheed Martin.
The contract is a follow-on to previous deals with Lockheed that cover delivery of NCE components and procurement of parts for eight GPS III space vehicles, General Dynamics said Friday.
Funding for NCEs on space vehicles 5 and 6 is included under the new subcontract, General Dynamics said.
Kirstan Rock, vice president and general manager of ISR for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, said the company anticipates the continued partnership with Lockheed to help support the Air Force’s mission.
“We bring more than a half-century of experience in the spacecraft communications and navigation domain to this program,” she said.
NCEs are built to provide command-and-control, inter-satellite and telemetry communications channels to the GPS III satellites.
General Dynamics has delivered the NCE components of space vehicles 1 and 2 and has scheduled NCE delivery for vehicles 3 and 4 in June.
