Amazon Web Services has a obtained provisional authorization from the Defense Department for all four of the company’s infrastructure regions in the U.S.
AWS will extend its cloud services to additional defense agencies under the DoD Cloud Security Model for the first and second impact levels, AWS said Wednesday.
Teresa Carlson, vice president of the worldwide public sector at AWS, said the company intends for the services to fulfill DoD’s additional requirements on cloud products.
The security model is based on the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
The Defense Information Systems Agency issued the approval for AWS’ cloud infrastructure following evaluation of its compliance with DoD’s security controls.
