Neel Mehta
Dr. Roger Mason serves as senior vice president of national security and intelligence at nonprofit science and technology organization Noblis, where he is also a corporate officer and also helps lead work for the law enforcement and defense sectors.
Mason, a former Office of the Director of National Intelligence official, rejoined Noblis earlier this year for his second stint there after five years as assistant national intelligence director for systems and resource analyses.
He served as vice president of Noblis’Â NSI mission area before joining ODNI and is also a former director at the Institute for Defense Analyses, as well as a former general manager for Veridian‘s (now General Dynamics) advanced systems group.
At ODNI, he worked as the country’s principal intelligence officer on matters related to intelligence capabilities, resources, requirements, systems analysis, program evaluation and cost analysis.
The National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal recipient also led the establishment of a new function to combine operations research, decision sciences, and business analytics in an effort to help intelligence leaders make decisions in areas such as overhead space technologies and counterterrorism.
His career also includes leadership roles for programs involving technology development, system integration, and field operations for military and intelligence missions.
Mason has published more than 35 papers in peer-reviewed journals and other publications and also holds two patents in areas of advanced materials and collection devices.
He holds doctorate and master’s degrees in nuclear engineering physics from the University of Virginia, an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School and a bachelor’s degree in physics from George Washington University.
