northrop-Grumman_BLUENorthrop Grumman has launched a new program for non-U.S. citizens studying in the country to gain professional experience in the cyber, program management and computer engineering fields.

The externship program is a joint project with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, the company announced Tuesday.

Chosen students from accredited universities will participate in an eight-week research program at the Northrop-sponsored cyber incubator Cync.

David Perry, Northrop vice president and chief global business development officer, said the company aims to help students receive training as they enter the cyber and computer engineering professional fields

Students will work with 10 startup companies at Cync, which is based in bwtech@UMBC research and technology park.

Participants will also receive training related to leadership, business, English technical writing and professional communications.
