CenturyLink will provide the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency with a fiber optic system to help connect three air bases in Colorado Springs, Colo. under a potential five-year, $1.7 million contract.
The company said Wednesday that the system is designed to resist high-altitude electromagnetic pulses and link Schriever Air Force Base, Peterson Air Force Base and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station to the Colorado Springs Survivable Communications Network.
Other contract work will include telecommunications, network systems, equipment and maintenance services.
Command authorities use the network to transmit voice, message, video and data messages.
